Legal
Terms of Use
Effective 31 October 2026
These terms cover the CraftDepot launcher, its app catalog and this website (together, “CraftDepot”). CraftDepot is an open-source project made by the CraftDepot authors (“we”). By downloading or using CraftDepot, you agree to these terms.
In short: CraftDepot is free and open source. The apps it installs are made by other people and come with their own licenses. Everything is provided as is, without any warranty, and you use it at your own risk.
The launcher's license
The CraftDepot launcher is licensed under your choice of the MIT License or the Apache License 2.0. Those licenses decide what you may do with its source code and builds. Nothing in these terms takes away any right they give you.
Apps in the catalog
We don't make the apps in the catalog. Each one is made by its own developers, published on their own GitHub releases, and covered by its own license, which you accept when you install it. Listing an app isn't an endorsement, and we don't control what its developers release.
CraftDepot downloads files only from each app's own GitHub releases, and checks them against the SHA-256 checksums GitHub publishes. A file without a checksum is installed but marked unverified. A matching checksum only shows that the file is the one the developer published. It doesn't show that the app is safe, that it works, or that it does what its listing says.
To report an app that is harmful, broken or misleading, open an issue and we'll review its place in the catalog. We can add, change or remove any app at any time.
Using CraftDepot
- You're responsible for what you choose to install, and for following each app's license and the laws that apply to you.
- CraftDepot installs, updates and removes software on your computer. Keep backups of anything important.
- Don't use CraftDepot or its servers to attack, overload or disrupt them or anyone else, or to get around the limits of the services it connects to.
No warranty
CraftDepot is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We don't promise that CraftDepot, the catalog or this website will be available, accurate, secure or free of errors, or that any app will work on your computer.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the CraftDepot authors aren't liable for any damages arising from CraftDepot or from any app you install with it. This includes lost data, lost profits, damage to your computer, and indirect, incidental or consequential damages, even if we were told they were possible. Some places don't allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.
Names and trademarks
CraftDepot isn't affiliated with the apps it lists or with the makers of the software they replace. Every app name, product name and trademark belongs to its owner, and we mention them only to describe what an app is or what it replaces. The CraftDepot name and logo identify this project. Please don't use them in a way that suggests we made or endorse something we didn't.
Contributions
Pull requests and catalog entries you send us are accepted under the licenses of the repository you send them to, as described in CONTRIBUTING.md.
Privacy
What CraftDepot and this website collect, and how to turn it off, is described in our Privacy Statement.
Other sites and services
CraftDepot and this website link to and depend on services we don't run, including GitHub, Google Fonts and each app's own website. Their own terms and policies apply to them.
Changes
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date above and record the change in the website's repository. If you keep using CraftDepot after a change, the updated terms apply. You can stop using CraftDepot at any time by uninstalling it.
